Beware the Barracuda

Governor Sarah Palin’s announcement today that she is not running for re-election as Governor of Alaska and that she is resigning her office later this month should have her political enemies on both sides of the aisle biting their fingernails now wondering what they may have done.

Since last August when Palin rose to fame the Alaska political culture has since tried to destroy her politically with endless and bogus ethic violation proceedings that were only meant to distract Palin from her duties as Governor and ruin her financially so that she could not afford a campaign run for President.

Palin said that the “political blood sport” aimed at her and her husband Todd not only left them in dept with nearly a half million dollars of legal fees, but it was also costing Alaskan taxpayers millions of dollars to investigate her.

Resigning as Governor now liberates Palin from the political restraints that come with running for president while still in elected office.  As a private citizen, she will now be able to travel the country more freely without facing these sorts of repeated ethics inquiries she’s had to fend off.

In her announcement Palin made it clear as to why she was resigning, even using a sports analogy from her high school basketball years to hammer the point home.  “I know when it’s time to pass the ball for victory,” Palin said.

Palin spoke directly to those inquiries, saying she wouldn’t stand by as taxpayer money was spent to investigate her.

"Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose," Palin said.

She also expressed frustration with her current role as governor.  "I cannot stand here as your governor and allow the millions of dollars and all that time go to waste just so I can hold the title of governor," Palin said.

Even as she repeated in her announcement the reasons as to why she was resigning, the media and the democrats still went on their expected rampage, questioning her dedication to the people of Alaska, even to go as far as suggesting that she can’t handle the job now that her popularity has dimmed and oil revenues are down.

But Palin hinted quite clearly about her own national ambitions, invoking a quote she credited to General Douglas MacArthur:  “We are not retreating; we are advancing in another direction.”

After the news conference, Palin made a statement to her supporters that may make her political enemies regret their stunt in Alaska when she said to “stay tuned” via Twitter, that  “this is good.”

The media is quick to spin this as another setback for the Republican Party.  Obviously, they fear Palin, as do the democrats and the republican establishment who fear true conservatives such as Palin.

But rather than jumping to conclusions in their attempt to continue to drive a final dagger into Sarah Palin’s political ambitions, they’d be better served to heed this warning:

Beware the Barracuda.

They have every right to be worried and they continue to criticize every thing that comes out of her mouth. They even criticized her use of sports analogy today. Give me a break or I should say give her a break, but that is not going to happen. All I can say is bring it on! I think she is going to give the media and the dems a run for their money and my money is on Sarah all the way.

They should all fear her, because she doesn't believe in "busines as usual" and that scares them all. We need more politicians like Sarah who aren't afraid of doing what is best for America instead of what is best for themselves. She has survived more criticism, ridiculous ethic charges, nasty smear compaigns, and vicious Vanity Fair articles than most politicians during their entire political career. I'd say her only rival is George Bush and he was around for 8 years! I know one president who is so thin-skinned he can't even answer a question from Major Garrett without getting angry and sarcastic.

And since we're on the subject, David Letterman needs to leave her children alone. His excuse for his off-color "joke" several weeks ago was that he thought it was Bristol at the baseball game not Willow. Even it if had been, it still wasn't appropriate. What happened to a politician's children being off limits? Oh that's right, the gloves are off when it comes to Sarah Palin and her family. I just hope they're ready for her knockout punch!
