Democrats Re-Brand, but are Still the Same Old Democrats

If I may personalize, my '69 Plymouth high school clunker that I inherited from Dad in the early 80s was one dandy car. The oil it burned caused more environmental damage than the BP gusher did this summer.
It leaked power-steering fluid, brake fluid and would overheat just because that's what cars did in those days. A couple of buckets underneath it every time I parked captured every drop, and I would simply pour the fluids back in where they belonged.
Even with all those issues that didn't stop me from saving my hard-earned $2.25 an hour to get the coolest two-tone paint job with gold pin stripes. Then came those Jensen tri-axle speakers, and a mean Pioneer super-tuner. I wanted it all done before I entered my freshman year in college.
I accomplished that goal. I had the coolest-looking car in college for about a year. Had that case of oil in the trunk for it's dose every other day and a couple of buckets to collect those brake and tranny fluids - it was cool!
Then my first lesson of conservatism came abruptly and with a bang, no pun intended. While parked in a parking lot next to my $2.25 an hour job (at that point I was making $3.50 an hour) someone backed into the rear fender.
When the insurance adjuster looked at it and saw that beneath that sharp, two-toned paint was layers of rusted, flaking 1969 steel, they said they couldn't cover it because they do not pay for rust.
It was at that point that I realized re-branding and recycling all that fluid that would have made today's leftist environmentalists proud, didn't mean a damn thing. This sharp, new-look, re-branded car was still the same old oil-burning, fluid-leaking, rusty high school clunker that it had always been. It was never what it appeared to be.
So this sharp, new-look, re-branded Democrat Party, like my sharp, new-look, re-branded high school clunker, will also not be who they appear to be.
Chuck
