Eye of the Tiger

Posted: August 5, 2009, 7:32PM

Everyone is happy that American journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee are home safely after being held hostage in North Korea and convicted to 12 years of hard labor for crossing into North Korean territory.

It was as crunchy as the failed “Cash for Clunkers” scam (cancelled because 6 out of 10 vehicles purchased were Toyotas and Hondas rather than Obama Motor’s vehicles) when President Obama denied he had any involvement in President Clinton’s discussions with Kim Jung Ill.

This was every bit President Obama, using this opportunity to negotiate with a terrorist who committed a terrorist act by capturing and holding the Americans hostage, and using the former president to appear as if he, not President Obama, negotiated and bartered with a rogue dictator to secure the journalists release.

It backfired because nobody is buying it, and every rogue dictator is now licking his chops.  We are thrilled that the ladies are home safely and with their families, but at what price to Americans in other rogue nations who are like sitting ducks to those nations’ dictators who also would like a photo opt with former President Clinton?

Kim Jung Ill knows President Obama quite well.  Kim Jung Ill knows that President Obama is a weak leader who avoids conflict, who avoids anything that will harm his popularity in the United States.  Kim Jung Ill knows that President Obama is all about imagery, that he is a mere media caricature.  Kim Jung Ill knew that President Obama will turn a very serious terrorist act into a political stunt.

Every rogue dictator was watching as former President Clinton was used as a political prop to chauffer the ladies home after a deal was obviously already cooked by President Obama and North Korea.

So who’s next?  Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would love a piece of the action.  How about Libya’s Muammar al-Gaddafi?  Remember him?  After 9/11 he did not want to confront President Bush and obeyed like a frightened puppy who learned his lesson the hard way.  Might Obama’s reputation now bring him out of hibernation?

As president, Obama must look at the bigger picture.  Yes, the women’s safety is of utmost priority but to pull a stunt like this and make it appear as if you simply toss a former President into the negotiations to wave a magic wand, apologize again making Kim Jung Ill the victim in the process rather than the terrorist he is that committed this terrorist act sets a very dangerous precedence.

Every American around the world is now looking into the eye of the tiger.  Every American around the world is now vulnerable to hungry terrorists and rogue dictators looking to make a name for themselves as the one who spit on the powerful United States.

Every American around the world is now vulnerable to terrorists and rogue dictators who want to get their picture next to a former president and once again legitimize themselves to the world.  This is their chance to make it look like they are the good guys and the United States is every bit the “Great Satin” they have been saying we are all their lives.

Who could blame them?  Like most of us here in America they are confident that President Obama is good for a few more apologies and a few more quid pro quos.

I like every other American am glad that the reporters are back home, but I found it telling that the personwho met President Clinton when he arrived in N.Korea, was the guy who is in charge of their nuclear program and the pictures that they took of Kim Jung Ill and the president did not include the ladies. Can anyone say propaganda. I am afraid that President Obama will continue to look weak and this is a very dangerous precedent for our country and for our safety.

Great way to shed the light on the backdoor dealings of a crooked administration. Unfortunately all those who continue to wave the obama flag & wear their rose-colored glasses will completely miss the fact that this was direct negotiation with a terrorist. Then again, those supporters fully assert that "talk", "beer drinking" & "pipe smoking" IS the best way to deal with nations/countries/individuals who thumb their nose at democracy. This country is spiraling down an incredibly dangerous path. What will it take to wake up all the sheep??

What is wrong with you people? Why can't you just be happy that two women were saved. Why do you always inject your own personal dissatisfaction with the government. Why can't we work together instead of running down everything. I hope you all have answers for God when your time comes. There is so much hate dripping from your words. Maybe you should seek help and find out what you are truly bitter about. God help us all!
Lorrie Kinard August 8, 2009, 2:22PM | http://lorriek.wordpress.com

For anyone who wants to see real hate, please go to any left-wing site and there it shall be, I think real concerned american citizens who are worried about our country and the safety of it's people, hate has nothing to do with it. We have a president who takes every opportunity to apologize to Dictators and Muslim extremists, who actually could show you all about hate, by the way, and if anyone does not think that he is making us look weak and endangering our country, then maybe they should listen to the experts from Muslim countries, who fled their own country and came here for safety and now say that our President is looking weak and they should know what they are talking about. As for God, he and I are just fine and I will continue to pray to him daily for our country!

I can't beleave anyone would actually get away with printing speculation as truth. I've not seen, or heard anything that would constitute proof that President Obama was in any way involved with the nogotiations with the N. Koreans. Any statement to the contrary, is in my opinion an outrite lie.
Why can't conservative's talk about what they think is good for our country, instead of constantly trying to tell us how terrible the democrates are. Furthermore, I see far more hate coming from the conservative right than I've ever saw from the left. Stop yelling, they, they, they, and start doing some good for a change.

1) This is not hate.
2) Every page in the Foundry is what's good for this country.
3) Would it satisfy you if we treated Obama the way the liberals treated Bush?

O.K, here's two facts. It was reported in the news that President Clinton had meetings with President Obama before and after the release of the ladies. It doesn't take a great leap of faith to figure out what was discussed. This was reported on by even the liberal media. Also, if anyone has read a left-wing blog lately, you can see a real stark contrast between their blogs and conservative blogs: 1.conservatives are concerned about their country and write about it. 2. liberals prefer to attack on a personal level and get really nasty when someone has a differing opinion, whereas conservatives welcome honest debate that doesn't have to resort to personal attacks. We can always agree to disagree but our opinions or points of view should never be demeaned just because we do not agree with the left or the President. I would urge anyone to visit a left-wing blog, their you shall find hate and a stark contrast to conservatism.

I don’t mean to spew hatred but I’m pretty tired of the liberal ideas that have screwed up our country. This country was founded on the principle of hard work. Now we have more people in this country who feel that they deserve something for nothing than we have people who feel they should work for a living. I don’t mind paying taxes to help someone who is temporarily down on their luck, too old, or too sick to work. What I do mind is paying taxes to support people who have no intention bettering themselves. Too many people in this country are always looking to see what they can get out of the government and never looking for a job. The liberals see these people as their voter base. I could spew hatred like they do and it would be all too easy. I know plenty of welfare jokes, instead I show restraint. By the way, I'm glad the reporters are home, but I'm surprised that Hillary let Bill get on a plane with two young women.

Chuck, when you make a statement about what someone else did, without substantiating your statement with facts, is that good for the country? I think i's a statement that's meant to cause intentional harm to your oppisition, whether its true or not. That sounds, and feels like hate to me.

Lorrie, is your memory so short that you forgot about the six party talks with N. Korea? The talks that President Bush was so in favor of? The talks that included a member of the Bush administration? Why do you not see that as, "negotiating with a terrorist"?

Paul, I can say with absolute certainty, that the percentage of people that have had to use the welfare system that are republicans, is just as high, as the percentage of people who are democrates. And i'm sure their very glade it was there when they needed it. Furthermore, i'm also certain that the percentage of democrates who are, " Good, decent, hardworking, patriotic americans", is every bit as high as the percentage of republicans that are," Good, decent, hardworking, patriotic americans". I get sick and tired of hearing people complaining about how terrible the democrates are, and how much worse their lives are now that the democrates are in charge. First off, the democrates are in charge because the people elected them into office. Secondly, since the republicans have been in charge for 20 of the last 28 and a half years, who do you think is responsible for the troubles our country is in? Anyone who is capable of seeing the truth, can only have one answer to that question. Have a nice day, and GOD Bless AMERICA.
Chuck Rahi September 7, 2009, 8:19AM | http://conservativefoundry.com

Ed, first no, I don't agree with your premise. That said, what statement are you talking about? Be specific.
LorrieK September 7, 2009, 7:37PM | http://lorriek.wordpress.com

o.k. Ed, The US has always maintained a policy of no negotiating with terrorists in the release of captured person/persons, so that we could remain strong and not look weak to our enemies and that has been the policy of all Presidents' before, republican and democrat. But of course, when all else fails, dems must throw Bush into the mix or hate into it. Peace talks are not negotiating with terrorists unless you want WMD's in the hands of fanatics and terrorists? Trying to unarm a country is a military endeavor even if you try to do it diplomatically first and you have to agree with that because the President stated he would talk to any nation? Please, if you want to argue on points of what this administration is doing to hurt this country, let me know, otherwise, please do not use past administrations or throw the hate word around as an excuse. I don't hate my country or my president, I just do not agree with him or his policies and I can do that without an ounce of hate and the left cannot say the same. All that spewed from left-wing sites during the Bush administration was hate and most of it personal. You won't find that here.
