Failed Policies of the Present
Posted: July 12, 2009, 10:12PMPresident Obama said last week that his stimulus package has “worked as intended” after stocks fell for a fourth week on concern that an economic recovery will be delayed.
As if that weren’t enough, a government report last week showed that employers cut 467,000 jobs in June and the unemployment rate rose to 9.5 percent, the highest since 1983.
But, according to President Obama his stimulus bill “has already extended unemployment insurance and health insurance to those who have lost their jobs in this recession . . . it has delivered $43 billion in tax relief to American working families and business.”
In his attempt to push back against criticism that his recovery program has failed to rescue the economy, he said, “state deficits would be nearly twice as large as they are now, resulting in tens of thousands of additional layoffs -- layoffs that would affect police officers, teachers, and firefighters.”
He also said the stimulus package “wasn’t designed to restore the economy to full health on its own, but to provide the boost necessary to stop the free fall.”
As if the President had forgotten that he had touted his stimulus package as an immediate and necessary policy to prevent an economic catastrophe, he said that it “was not designed to work in four months -- it was designed to work over two years.”
Look. For the President of the United States to continue to insult the American people’s intelligence with outright lies and misleading statements that he knows himself are not true is disingenuous and simply outrageous. This should not be tolerated.
The free fall that President Obama talks about in his radio address is his free fall. He owns it. This is his economy that he created with his radical, liberal agenda that has proven time and time again to have never worked in any economy.
President Obama has taken a wrecking ball to our economy while taking control of the auto and banking industry, and if he succeeds in getting Cap and Trade and healthcare approved this summer he will have taken control of 20% or our national economy.
It is not unreasonable, either, to imagine a possibility of taking over transportation via the security gates. That is textbook police state socialism, something Obama waxes quite well in his autobiographies.
Under the auspices of safety, the administration can create an absurd environment at airport security for example, likely during the busy Holiday travel season, that will eventually cause people to simply give up flying rather than be subjected to an invasion of their privacy thereby forcing the airline industry into bankruptcy and airline executives then take their Chevy Volt ride to Washington to beg for a bailout.
GM II.
Think about that for a moment. An institution that has never earned a profit and whose only source of revenue comes from the private sector because they just take it, that is run by life-long democrat politicians, and a president who has never run a company or earned a profit in his life, may be in charge of nearly a quarter of our economy. That is frightening on the surface.
Yet, President Obama continues to blame President Bush for the economic crisis he is creating that has now completely wiped out all of President Bush’s job growth.
During the campaign President Obama repeated a steady drumbeat that we cannot continue down the road of Bush’s “failed policies of the past.” But did anybody ever question candidate Obama as to what exactly were those “failed policies of the past?”
Never.
Those “failed policies of the past” during President Bush’s presidency were two massive tax cuts immediately following the economic plunge of 9/11 and again in 2003. They were providing business incentives by lowering the tax rates on investment eventually creating record GDP growth, a DOW approaching 15000 and unemployment that dropped to 4.6 percent.
And throughout all this prosperity the media with their democrat comrades began a campaign designed to convince the American people that we were in a recession. They made the American people believe that even though things were good right now in their lives, they were not so good for their neighbors'.
After the democrats took control of congress in 2006, rendering President Bush lame duck, Barnie Frank and Chris Dodd, as well as other members of congress continued to ignore multiple hard and serious warnings by the Bush administration, John McCain and majority of republicans about the potential mortgage and banking crisis if they didn’t act soon.
In one of the biggest October surprises in American history the democrats were able to manufacture an economic crisis that got away from them and spiraled out of control as President Obama was able to convince a majority of the American electorate that change was needed with bumper sticker slogans like “failed policies of the past.”
President Obama’s “change” that nobody dared ask him to explain during the campaign either, is a move to socialism, a move to nationalize this country and return it’s wealth to its rightful owners. It is to create fear and victimhood so that the only “hope” that remains for people is for big government to come to the rescue. This is classic communism in the making.
The hard truth is that President Obama is governing now as a lawyer in constant opening and closing argument modes. He opens with flowering lingos and cleverly named titles like “stimulus” which is anything but, and outright lies while pitching his unconstitutional policies like “stimulus” packages, bailouts and takeovers of private corporations, nationalizing banks and healthcare, and economically devastating policies like cap and trade.
When they fail, as the “stimulus” has, he moves to closing arguments blaming the defendant, President Bush, asking the jurors, the American people, to not believe their own eyes or the statistical evidence at hand, but to believe him and his administration.
As a juror, however, I want to see the evidence that the “stimulus” has worked as he said in closing arguments last week.
Show me, Mr. President, the 150,000 jobs that you said you saved in closing arguments while the evidence shows that you are losing half a million jobs a month.
Show me, Mr. President, how your stimulus has not allowed unemployment to surpass 8 percent as you promised in opening arguments while the evidence shows that we are now at 9.5 percent.
Show me, Mr. President, why there hasn’t been an unimaginable economic catastrophe that you warned there would be in opening arguments if we didn’t get the stimulus package passed immediately, while in closing arguments you said that this dire stimulus package was not meant to work for two years.
Show me, Mr. President, how you didn’t know that the economy was as bad as it was as you said in closing arguments last week, while you said in opening arguments that we are in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.
The reality is that if we continue down this road of failed policies of the present administration, we will certainly find ourselves in a catastrophic economic crisis never before seen in the history of this great country.

great post, Chuck! You will not see any broadcasting of the fact that the dems held the majority for the last two years of the Bush presidency and don't even get me started on Franks and Dodd, you never hear anything about those two engineers of the housing crisis. They should be made to resign.
And you won't see any evidence produced by this white house about the new jobs they say were created, because they know you can't prove it statistically, so they feel safe with that quote.
And finally, you won't hear it advertised that the stimulus package was created not to help immediately, but to be one big slush fund for his cronies and any benefits aren't factored in for a couple of years, but I seriously doubt that. This stimulus package is ridiculous and will cost us way into the future and if the american people allow a second one, then we deserve what we are getting.
I completely agree. If only the mainstream media would start asking the questions you posed, then maybe the Americans who are so blindly following Obama would wake up and start asking questions of their own. Only when this happens will things begin to change in America.
