Give Me My 'A'

Let’s get right to the point. We are living in unprecedented, transformative times unlike anything any of us have ever experienced in the history of this country. For those of us who know how to listen to President Obama, who know how to read and interpret his books and the writings of his radical alliances like community organizer and writer, Saul Alinsky, we watch in stunned amazement as the most reckless, power-hungry, radical liberal President to ever hold the Office of the Presidency unconstitutionally abuse his authority and the power of the Executive Branch to inject as much government control into the private sector as he can with little to no resistance from anywhere. There is plenty of blame to go around. I’ll begin where it all begins.

President Obama

It isn’t difficult to conclude from his writings that President Obama believes the primary source of revenue to grow government, besides the printing room, is the working people and private industry. Under Marxist regimes corporations and individual earnings exist to fund and support government, but not in America under a free capitalist system. One of the fundamental principles of socialism is the existence of government to create an even playing field so as to limit individual achievement and growth. For it is the State that determines the distribution of wealth under a communist rule.

In his book, “Dreams From My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance,” President Obama writes on pages 100 and 101,

“To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist Professors and the structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets. We smoked cigarettes and wore leather jackets. At night in the dorms, we discussed neocolonialism, Franz Fanon, Euro centrism and patriarchy. When we ground out our cigarettes in the hallway carpet or set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake, we were resisting bourgeois society’s stifling constraints. We weren’t indifferent or careless or insecure. We were alienated.”

Youthful Marxism, it had been argued. However, his radical mentors with whom he had since formed close alliances squelch that argument. President Obama and his mentors studied the writings and teachings of Alinsky. In President Obama’s books, I am struck at how he speaks positively of Alinsky and at how he appears to have a much broader and deeper understanding of radical socialism than he does of capitalism and the free market system. It was Alinsky who had said, “The greatest enemy of individual freedom is the individual himself.” Socialist, radical liberals do not trust the individual and do not like the individual because the individual limits their ability to control. To radical liberals the individual is the greatest threat to their power.

In “Rules for Radicals,” Alinsky’s final book published in 1971 a year prior to his death, he addressed the 1960s generation of radicals, outlining his views on organizing for mass power. In the first chapter’s opening paragraph, Alinsky writes,

“What follows is for those who want to change the world from what it is to what they believe it should be. ‘The Prince’ was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. ‘Rules for Radicals’ is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away.”

President Obama has usurped the Constitution by using the power of the Executive Office to pursue a radical agenda designed to change the structure of how our country was founded. The Executive Branch does not have the authority as written in the Constitution to reshape or remake the country just because the person temporarily holding office doesn’t agree with it. Once President Obama accepted his role as President and stated the Oath of Office, his vision for reshaping and “remaking the country” in his radical view stops there. That is not the role of the Presidency. If he wants to continue in the role of radical activism, then resign as President. That is not why the people elected him.

In his first 100 days, President Obama has violated the Oath of Office that he swore to uphold. He put his hand on the Bible and said, "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Power-grabs, fear tactics, hard-ball threats, bullying takeovers of private industry and the confiscation of private sector money to redistribute as he sees fit are unconstitutional and a violation of the Oath of Office. As a temporary steward of the office he is not given the authority to change the Constitution as he thinks it should be.

Republican Party

Where are the checks and balances? The Republican Party has moved so far left that any vote for any candidate in either party is merely an up or down vote, not a left or right vote. I hold the republican establishment responsible for not speaking out and for just sitting back and allowing radical takeovers of the banks and the auto industry, and a daily government assault on the private sector. With a filibuster-proof democrat majority in congress the republicans have no power to stop any of the out-of-control spending legislation that will continue to be pushed through congress at a record pace, but they have a microphone whether they believe they’ll be heard or not. They have been ridiculously silent. For God’s sake if President Bush were to take a different route than his usual daily route to the urinal former Senate Minority Leader, Tom Daschle, former House Minority Leader, Dick Gephardt and later, Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid and Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi would run to the microphones faster than a gaggle of kids diving after the last Tootsie Roll from a shattered Piñata.

The media, then, would pick up on it and it would go something like this: "A different route. What does it mean?" "Why today?" "The President baffled everyone today by taking a different route to the urinal. What might he be hiding? And how much did it cost the tax payers to shift the Secret Service around like that?" By the time the weekend rolls around, the weekend talk shows would be obsessed with discussions on Dementia. "Breaking a routine just like that? Early signs of Dementia?" "DIMENTIA!" "Tonight we'll look at symptoms of Dementia and President Bush’s eerily similar behavior," etc., etc. This is not satire. This happens.

If the Republican Party continues to remain silent and make no effort to educate the public on judicial nominees and the unconstitutional move to nationalize health care then it is time for a total overhaul of the party, which is where it appears to be heading in the next election anyway. Their pandering to the left so that they aren't left out of the D.C. liberal cocktail party circuit is unacceptable. They alienate the true conservatives in the party like Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, and Congressman Mike Pence, and they elevate the John McCains and Lindsey Grahams of the party who have done nothing but lose elections while trying to reach across the isle and out liberal the liberals. They have abandoned their conservative principles, which are the building blocks for conservative policy and the recipe for republican landslide victories, and they have alienated a large conservative base dying to come back to life for the right candidate. That is why the blue dog republican establishment fear Palin, because she articulates conservatism better than anyone since Newt Gingrich, who has also fallen for the "new" republican pander party, and President Reagan.

Democrat Party

This is their candidate. While I respect party loyalty, is there not a single democrat with a conscious who will step forward to denounce some of this? Descent in this party means death for your career. Pelosi has such a grip on the house members that if they want to be in Washington for more than two years and have a career in Washington then they must vote with the party every time. The 11 democrats who descended on the stimulus package had to demonstrate overwhelming constituent pressure for Pelosi to loosen her iron fist a little and allow them to vote the way the people demanded. A one-time mulligan, I'm certain.

This current Democrat Party that campaigned on the republicans being a “culture of corruption” without presenting any factual or legitimate claims to plausibly validate such a charge, are themselves one of the most inherently corrupt political parties we’ve known in recent memory. Both parties can be expected to have a few bad apples but the level of corruption in today’s Democrat Party is advanced cancer. It is organized, widespread, deep and systemic. As a national majority party now the corruption at every level is surfacing almost daily. Governor Rod Blagojevich notwithstanding, the media still finds ways to shield them from too much negative exposure. There is obviously an organized method to avoid paying taxes in the democrat party. Let’s be intellectually honest with ourselves. If Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner were a republican nominated by President Bush to run the IRS and his tax evasion issue was exposed, do you think he will still be in charge of the Treasury?

Pelosi and Reid are as fiscally radical as President Obama, and have taken the party down a path of fiscal irresponsibility. The Democrat Party pays more attention to the far left, liberal blogger base than they do their democrat constituents. They did the unthinkable by politicizing a war. Historically both parties have honored with civility and out of respect for the military and for U.S. sovereignty the unwritten rule that “politics stops at the water’s edge.” Not this Democrat Party. On numerous international tours Senator John Kerry, President Clinton and now President Obama, just to name a few, have verbally demeaned and denounced our military and our country on foreign soil.

If the Democrat Party chooses to continue to support President Obama’s radical, destructive and financially unsustainable agenda, then they will be responsible for the financial mess in which we will soon inevitably find ourselves. The expected short-term recovery we will experience that is built on printing money cannot and will not sustain itself. Eventually there will be no way the media can protect them. They risk destroying their party for generations.

The Media

What a travesty and irresponsible joke this has become. Objective journalism has been absent from the media for years and last year journalism has officially died. We are left with an around-the-clock agenda-driven voice for the Democrat Party. This is irresponsible, dangerous and destructive. Along with it’s democrat comrades the media successfully pulled off a demonizing campaign that convinced a misguided public that the last 8 years of the Bush Administration were the worst 8 years in the country’s history. When unemployment was at 4.6% in 2006 and we reached 52 straight months of GDP growth, and the Dow was nearing 15,000 the media began a campaign to convince the American people that a recession was around the corner. It was a constant drumbeat of deception and false reporting that finally took its toll. The last thing the American people wanted in office in 2008 was a republican.

Rush Limbaugh says often on his nationally syndicated radio show that President Obama is a product of the media. They are so invested in him that to them he is now too big to fail. Their mission every day is to not report the news, but rather to protect their investment. In April of this year we saw the highest death toll in Iraq in 7 months and it was barely reported. In fact, it is hard to find any stories on the wars anywhere in the press unless you do a comprehensive Google search. President Obama is never challenged by the press, and is never asked any serious questions during his staged press conferences. Any President presiding over a 6.3% drop in GDP in one quarter would have been grilled by the press in the past, but there was not one question raised during his last national address press conference shortly after the GDP news was released.

So this really makes me ponder something. As a junior in college in the mid 80s working toward my degree in journalism, I was given a B in advanced News-Writing and Reporting class because I was prone to journalese and to showing a “little more than necessary” bias in my news stories. As is obviously the case now, I was punished for the way journalism is actually practiced outside the classroom - which is certainly not journalism as I was taught. Therefore, I plea to the Dean of the School of Journalism at my alma mater:

Give me my 'A'!

Chuck
