Not a Christian, but Plays One on TV

Posted: June 3, 2009, 9:54PM

As President Obama embarks on his second international apology tour, this time to the Muslim world, we are again seeing a different Obama than we saw during his campaign.

President Obama is no longer running away from his Muslim roots as he had during his campaign.

In fact, on the eve of his speech in Cairo President Obama is now comfortable trumpeting his Muslim roots, his father’s Muslim roots and his grandmother’s Muslim roots to the world.

The Obama campaign was sensitive to Candidate Obama’s Muslim roots, petrified of the potential political fallout of being branded a Muslim in the wake of 9/11 and widespread prejudice against Muslims among most Americans.

The official campaign, however, was over when President Obama unnecessarily apologized to Muslims in his inauguration address and, in his first interview as president, to millions of Muslims around the world on al-Arabiya.

President Obama could be very effective informing and educating the public on the distinctions between Muslims and 20th century totalitarian Islamic fascists.  He could make it clear to the American people that American Muslims and the majority of Muslims around the world reject Islamic extremists.

Instead, President Obama knowingly continues to nurture an unfortunate prejudice for his own political expediency, while showing utter disrespect to Christianity by either hiding behind it or hiding it all together.

During the campaign President Obama did everything he could to emphasize his Christian faith, with some assitance from George Stephanopoulos, while de-emphasizing his father’s Muslim faith.  His father was “basically an agnostic, as far as I (Obama) can tell.”

In his speech at Georgetown University he requested all religious symbols and monograms representing the name ‘Jesus’ be covered.

At a press conference in April in Turkey, President Obama announced that we are not a Christian nation.

This week, in the early stages of his second apology tour, President Obama announced that the United States is one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.

By comparison Indonesia has 200 million Muslims, India 156 million, Pakistan 150 million, the United States 2.3 million.

Simply uttering President Obama’s middle name during the campaign was blasphemed.  Is it not fascinating, now, that the President is in the Middle East, no doubt to apologize to the Muslim world again, heralding to that part of the world his Muslim roots?

If the United States were truly one of the largest Muslim nations in the world, as President Obama wants us to believe, than why play a Christian on TV during the campaign to avoid the political fallout of being branded a Muslim?

Hello,
I wrote on my blog about Obama's apology tour and I am still amazed that he hasn't caught more flak than he did. To state that we are no longer a christian nation and to say this to a muslim audience is unforgivable. Even though the liberals in this country would like to rewrite our history, they will never be able to get away from the fact that our forefathers were christians and this country was founded with the principle, freedom of religion.
While I feel no animosity toward muslims, I do think our president made us appear weak while on tour, touting Islam, but at the same time, minimizing christianity.
Thanks.

I do not think that Muslims should be mistreated in any way; they are in this country and they should have mosques and the many things that a religious person should have in this free country. The fact, though, that President Obama discouraged the name of Jesus at Georgetown University is unfair and HE Himself is not following the Constitutional right for the freedom of religion.

I read that part and I did not know that at all. I find that gently disheartening that the President, the current Commander-In-Chief, is saying this to people at public events. Why should He apologize to extremist Muslims (I am not talking about regular ones)? The idea that he would discourage one thing that was religious and enforce the beliefs that he has on others is not good at all. This is not fair.

People should speak to the White House. People should contact the closest Mayor or political person and just discuss why this thing that the Liberals mock as untrue socialism. . . the biggest truth as there are air in our lungs. We are breathing here today. . . let's make our voices heard.

Without hate. . . but with a concern that this country may fall into dangerous times.
