Not Even the Flux Capacitor Could Save Us Now

The Conservative Foundry supports clean air and fuel efficiency.  This should not be misinterpreted by our firm stance against President Obama’s announcement today of new and unprecedented national fuel standards under the guise of saving our planet from greenhouse gases and man-made global warming.

None of what President Obama announced today is about that.  Amidst a flurry of worn out clichés the most powerful car salesman in the world played the guilt card to make his pitch today for another power grab and a devastating assault on our freedom and capitalism.

This time at the White House Rose Garden, President Obama continued his apology and guilt tour for a country he does not like, for a country that he believes is immoral and unjust, when he said,

“The status quo is no longer acceptable. While the United States makes up less than 5% of the world’s population, we create roughly a quarter of the world’s demand on oil.”

With that statement alone are we to presume that we are not entitled to our resources, that we as an American people are evil for living a life, as President Obama perceives it to be, of greed and gluttony?  That is offensive.

President Obama lacks any appreciation for the greatness of our country and in fact he resents it.  For him, now, are we to forget our contributions to the world over the years?  For him, now, are we to forget what the Constitution and Declaration of Independence has meant to the United States of America, and to the entire world?

What is so wrong with America that “the status quo is no longer acceptable?”  Under who’s terms?  President Obama does not get to define them.

We did not seize our greatness through force.  The United States of America was created and assembled by the Constitution and Declaration of Independence in ways never before seen in the history of the world.

Our contributions to medicine, science and to human rights cannot be matched by any country.  We sacrifice for freedom and liberty around the world and through this sacrifice we have liberated millions of ordinary, everyday human beings.  We do not deserve these constant attacks and disrespect by this one man temporarily borrowing our Oval Office.

We are a nation of ordinary, everyday people sharing the same planet with all human beings around the world, breathing the same air, drinking the same water, blessed and supported by a Declaration that protects our liberty and freedom and a Constitution that allows each and everyone of us to realize the full depth of our potential.

The result of this is a nation of everyday ordinary people doing extraordinary things every damn day.  We are great.

So what is 39 miles to a gallon really all about?

President Obama usurped the Constitution and fired General Motors CEO, Rick Wagoner, then put his own handpicked “car czar,” Steven Rattner, in charge.  Today, it was announced that GM would sell its healthy assets to the government as part of its bankruptcy plan.

Under the guise of a bailout to save Chrysler, President Obama usurped the Constitution and forced Chrysler into bankruptcy after pouring billions of taxpayer dollars into the Company to “buy time” so they can develop a “plan” that he never intended on approving from the outset.

With control of two of the Big 3 now President Obama announced his new fuel emission standards plan with the perception of the auto industry’s full backing.

However, this is not what the auto industry supports.

To impose even further emission standards on an industry already struggling to meet the demands of the current standards is corporate suicide.

The auto industry will now be forced to make cars that the majority of American people do not want, and President Obama will force the American people into cars they do not want.

This is what 39 miles to a gallon is all about.  Not cleaner air or saving the planet.  The liberals in Washington are fully aware that the manmade global warming hoax is a hoax and has always been a hoax.  They will milk it as long as it works.

This is President Obama usurping his Constitutional authority again and taking a wrecking ball to capitalism and liberty.

This is a devious plan to avoid importing evil Middle East oil.

This is a bunch of power-hungry, angry liberals who want to limit what we drive and control what we drive.

Under the guise of saving the planet, 39 miles to a gallon is about rolling back the standard of our lives.  We will be forced to consume less.  Think about the consequences.  It can be a shocking revelation.

How many of these smaller, lighter, thinner and more dangerous little Nellie’s would soccer mom’s need to lug everything around to replace those evil SUVs?  What about the contractors and plumbers?

The transformation of the entire fleet of the American auto industry will have a devastating impact on our economy, as the cost will be passed on to the consumer.

As we consume less, thereby reducing fuel tax revenue to the treasury, where will a liberal democrat controlled government make up the difference?  Liberal democrats always ask the people to sacrifice, but a liberal democrat controlled government never goes with less.

The taxes that will be imposed on gas will wipe out any fuel cost savings that President Obama claims the new fuel-efficient little weasels might have saved the consumer.  We will find ourselves in 2 years zipping around in dangerous, unsafe little rug rats while paying 5 dollars a gallon of gas.  How European is that?

Empirical studies show that these lighter, smaller cars are unsafe and result in more highway and city accident deaths than do the current fleet.  Haven’t we been down this road before?

When the free market no longer dictates what cars people want to drive, rather President Obama dictates what cars people MUST drive is when we have crossed the line to socialism.

When President Obama was pronouncing over and over during his campaign that we would reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and eliminate it entirely in 10 years, he never mentioned how he would replace this missing oil.

It was hard to imagine what he had in mind.  How would we fuel the airlines, the trucking industry?  Could it be that Candidate Obama had some wild scientist hidden in a lair somewhere in Hawaii that had the answer to the "Mystery of the Missing Oil" dilemma and it was going to be the October surprise of all October surprises?

Hollywood had the answer in Back to the Future.  President Obama said today, in essence, that we must go back for the future.

In President Obama’s future of socialism and totalitarian control, not even the Flux Capacitor could save us now.
