Preamble: Why President Obama Must Resign
Posted: September 22, 2009, 5:44PMI have been getting a lot of emails asking why I haven’t posted a column recently in the 24/7 Engine Room. I had planned to write a follow-up to my column from September 8 titled, President Obama, The Great Conservative, after President Obama gave his joint session to Congress the next day.
However, after his speech I had a change of heart. I was so appalled at the way he disgraced and demeaned the chamber with utter lies and deception, using a great tradition of addressing Congress in a forum that is primarily reserved for the State of the Union Address and for rare and serious events like 9/11, so that he could save face for his own political interests, that I had decided to write a series of columns calling for his resignation from office.
A lot has unfolded since his joint address and I have taken the time since then to revisit everything that he has done since he was elected, including his fraudulent campaign. What I will post here in coming days are reasons why I believe President Obama is not worthy of holding the highest office by virtue of his intentions and, as I see it, a blatant violation of the oath of office.
The columns will explore his handling of the economy, the deficit, job loss, the private sector and unconstitutional meddling into private industry. I will give reasons relating to immigration, the health care debacle, cap and trade, his recent deployment of the race card as nothing more than a distraction from serious issues like the war in Afghanistan and the shocking revelations recently leaked about his politicizing the military effort that borders treason. There are legitimate issues relating to corruption, ACORN, his politically-motivated investigation of our CIA interrogators and his deliberate intention to weaken our stance internationally. I will offer my treatment of his anti-constitutional strategy of governance and his disdain for our country as written in the Constitution that, in and of itself, is reason for resignation.

Chuck, look forward to your future postings on this topic. Good luck with trying to narrow it down, though, because this president has trampled over the constitution so much and doesn't seem to be listening to the people. It's clear to see that his agenda is first and foremost, and the heck with the people, the constitution and the country for that matter, because if we don't stop him and the liberals, we will be waking up one morning to a totally different country!

The abuse of power already by this administration is unprecedented.
If he isn't impeached soon, there will not be anything left of the country we call home.

I read over the constitution thinking that I might have made a mistake and looked under the executive branch and found nothing mentioning the word "economy." There is no place there that says the President can't do what he did. It may be against your ideology, but certainly not against the US Constitution.
So Chuck, I suggest that you brush up on your understanding of the Constitution.

Joseph, you have a very limited understanding of the Constitution. The Constitution clearly states the role of limited government. It is implied in the Preamble but more specifically in Article 1, section 8.

To understand unconstitutionality requires an ability to interpret this brilliant document which requires far more appreciation for the months and years it would take to achieve a credible understanding of our founders vision, not a quick search for a few words. Just a comment. I have been following the conservative TV/Radio programs and have learned a lot. I have come to the awareness of the words that were spoken by the POTUS - that he wants to fundamentally transform the United States.
One would only want to change something that one does not like as it is, we do not try to change the things that we like. Is that not so. That seems to be the crux of this president and his administration; just look at the many czars who are not carefully vetted by our standards. They all seem to want to turn this country around - I, for one, don't want to live in a communist / marxist country. I am here because it is AMERICA. God help us all if this POTUS has his way as only GOD will be able to help us - so while we still can we must all do what we can to STOP the fundamental transformation of this Great United States of America. I must recomment people listen/view GlennBeck on Fox News channel - all he asks us is that we QUESTION WITH BOLDNESS and not just accept everything that is handed to us. I pray that many, many more will join in this vigil.

If anyone wants to point to who is to blame for the beginning of this economic crisis, look to Barney Frank, Maxine Waters and Chris Dodd. This recession was fueled by the housing crisis and as someone who has worked in both Banking and Real Estate for 11 years now, I have more than a little information on this. These three people threatened banks into giving Mortgages to people who could not afford them. No person in their right mind thinks that banks can lend to people who can not pay back the money and survive. This is a practice that began during the Carter administration and was ramped up in the 90's. When the Bush administration warned Congress in 2001 that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were unsound and needed stricter oversight (something everyone concurs with, now) Barney Frank and Ms. Waters denied the allegations and said there was no evidence to support such a warning. This has been decades in the making and we can't point to just one administration, however there are two people who have been in Congress for the full duration. Barney Frank has been in the House since 1981 and Chris Dodd has been in Congress in both the House and Senate since 1974. Miraculously, these people see fit to blame everyone but themselves.
As for the duration of the recession, 10 months into office, it's Obama's now. Nothing has been done to create jobs. Instead he focuses on Cap and Trade (which will actually eliminate many more jobs and raise energy prices) and Health Care Reform. These are not job creators. These are job eliminators. The dollar has plummeted and continues to do so while the government continues to spend on things like grants to massage therapy schools and prositution studies in Thailand. We had to pass TARP immediately or else the jobless rate would hit 9%. Well, now it's at 10% (that's just those who are on unemployment. If you include those who have given up and are no longer receiving unemployment, the number is over 16%) and the administration is saying that will be something we just have to get used to. We're already dealing with the residential real estate slump and the commercial real estate slump is coming. This is something I'm already seeing first hand as developers are filing bankruptcy because tenants can't pay rent. There are no signs of recovery. At what point do we stop blaming Bush and start saying Obama is not doing his job? He promised transparency, but that's not happening. We were promised that all bills would be placed on the internet 72 hrs before voting. Hmmm, that's been revoked. We were told by Pelosi that this was going to be the most ethical Congress in history, but Charlie Rangel is being shielded from investigation. Chris Dodd got sweetheart deals from Countrywide, but no one is investigating him. We were told that this would be an era of bipartisanship, but Republicans have been locked out of Health Care negotiations since April. Personally, I didn't believe any of these promises, but I would think the people who did and voted for Obama and the democrats as a result would be highly disappointed and disillusioned. Actually, quite a few of them are. Believe it or not, quite a few of those people participated in the tea parties.
Anyone who wants to know the frame of mind of the Founders of our great country, I suggest you read "Founding Brothers" by Joseph Ellis. If you know anything about the author, you know he is no conservative. But according to this book and others I have read (including the Federalist Papers), Jefferson, Washington, Adams, Franklin, Madison...they would all be horrified and their horror would have begun in the early 1900's. The powers they gave for the Federal Government were enumerated in the Constitution and were not to be expounded upon. It was never supposed to be the size that it has become and it was never supposed to have the power that it now has. If you want to truly understand the Constitution and its meaning, you have to know the history behind it. You have to know the men who authored it and the Declaration of Independence. You can't just read the document itself and proclaim to know everything in it. It takes a historian...and as citizens, we should all be historians.

I know that history quite well. It is not a higher level of understanding. It is basic high school history lessons. The things that King George did to his people (we were his people before we revolted) are horrible. I don't think our government will do that to us considering the fact that they are unquestionably in charge.
