What Have We Become?

What have we become? Think about this for a moment.

This is being touted as a great political victory and great momentum builder for the Republican Party. To put this in proper perspective, I see this as a very sad reminder of how close we are to becoming a socialist nation.

Remember the pictures and videos all over TV of citizens from the former Soviet Union dancing in the streets, shouting and whistling when the wall was torn down after Reagan said, "Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" on June 12, 1987 in Berlin? Remember the video’s of Iraqis dancing in the streets, toppling the statue of Saddam Hussein when the American’s moved into Bagdad ending Hussein’s hostile and tyrannical regime?

How far have we fallen? How far and how fast has this nobody of a President taken our nation to the left, completely annihilating and ignoring our Constitution and the proper role of the federal government?

What have we become when we have to celebrate a vote in one state that plays just a small role in restoring our freedom and constitutional rights as American citizens from one of the most profound distortion of Congress’s constitutional power in our 234-year history as a free nation?

What have we become when we have to celebrate as free Russians and Iranians had after decades of totalitarian and communist rule, a vote that plays just a small role in restoring the proper interpretation of Article 1 Section 8 of our Constitution?

Have we now reached the point in our country where we must propose state propositions on ballots and vote as Americans vs. Americans so as to restore and defend our Constitution against radical legislation proposed by OUR President and OUR federal government, and then celebrate if we win?

I’m sorry, but this is not a day to celebrate, and it certainly is not a vote to celebrate.  Rather it is an American tragedy.  It is a brutal awakening and a sad reminder of how we got here and of how far we have fallen.

My God, what we have become?
