Something Wicked This Way Comes
BREAKING: White House releases Obama’s birth certificate
As with everything with Obama, always keep an eye on the other hand. Timing is everything as he plays politics with the people. If this is real, where has it been? How did is surface and why now? Is this a "stain on the blue dress" moment where he released something because Trump has him cornered?
Obama is giving a very, very unpresidential speech right now insulting American people by blaming them for a two-year distraction. A noble president would have given what was asked of him.
Obama chose to play politics, but this thing stinks every which way you look.
The real distraction is its release. Why now? Always look at Obama's other hand, for something wicked this way comes.

Chuck, just thank goodness he was forced into releasing this now, and not in October of 2012. For whatever reason, Obama seems to think it is worth giving up on his best strawman argument now, and that it will help his poll numbers. He is getting his ass kicked in the budget debate, and he needs this to save any hope he has for reelection. Personally, I think he may get a bounce, but it will be a dead cat bounce at best. Luckily, there were a lot of conservative voices not willing to jump on board with this one. Too bad about Trump planting his flag here, some of what he said was actually on target, and he showed something which has been missing from Republicans for a long time, which is the fighting spirit.

John, it's hard to tell the reason why he did this now, but I think that Trump successfully made it a "real" issue with the American people and the recent polls that showed more and more people (I think one poll showed up to 70%) did not believe Obama was born an American citizen. But that leaves the big question as to why he didn't do it when he was supposed to. In hindsight it's easy to see how this could be used as a tool to make "birthers" look like fools, but at the time of vetting and producing the "Certificate of Live Birth" there were no such things as "birthers." They are spawned by Obama's lack of disclosure. And now the bump you speak of, albeit quite small and transient if it even happens, will certainly be offset by the "what-took-you-so-long" debate. It may actually hurt him. Especially since every other candidate produced theirs.

Disclocsure over his past, while I agree that his associations with Van Jones, Bernadette Dorn, William Ayers, Frank Marshall Davis are extremely important, (more so than the birth certificate,) we are past that now. The discussion needs to be on how incompetant he has proven himself to be. The question needs to be asked, "if you were President and wanted to destroy our republic, what would you differently than Obama?". We can defeat him in 2012, but we can not afford to give him any straw men to fight against. For my way of thinking, we need more than a close victory. We need a landslide to reverse the damage done in the last 30 months, and really since the Wilson Presidency.

Whatever anyone thinks of Trump and the birth certificate issue, like it or not, what Trump has done is something very simple. He presents a very simple question that is if Obama has nothing to hide then why is he hiding everything? It's that simple. Presidents don't get away with this and especially Obama who ran on transparency. We vet our presidents and they don't get away with hiding anything. Obama played this as long as he could knowing people would be concerned about the fallout if at some point he put out a long form. He can produce one whether it be a fraud or not at any time. He knows that and so did/does many of us. He's hiding something and gambling on the notion that nobody will take a strong enough stand to call his bluff. Enter Trump. Trump said it best when he said, "I am Obama's worst enemy." Trump is doing what nobody dared to do and that is call Obama's bluff. Today, we saw who won. Obama had to produce something probably much sooner than he had hoped. I've tried, but I just can't accept the notion out there that the birth certificate issue is preventing us from focusing on important issues. This story has never been a top story in the news (it would have been ALL the news had it been Bush) and November midterms, Virginia before that, New Jersey before that and Scott Brown before that proves that it certainly has not distracted us from the serious issues. What's wrong with having another piece of ammo in our arsenal to combat one of Obama's biggest campaign issues which is transparency? Constitutional eligibility is serious. Obama using it for political gain is shameful and he should be called on it. By releasing something called a long from today now opens up the "why now/what took you so long" debate. The only ones who are saying, "Can we now get on to something else you kook right wingers" are the libs who have been hoping to have this moment for a long time. It isn't working. Neither is their attempt now to label the American people radical right wingers. Trump played it great, like him or not, and he left Obama with even more questions now about the birth certificate issue than before.
